As humans, we are always looking for the easy way, the running start.

Affiliate marketing can be a very rewarding career, but first, you need to get started. One way to help get your affiliate marketing business off the ground is by using PLR. PLR, or Private Label Rights, can help you get a running start in your affiliate marketing business. When you first start out you don’t have a lot of time, so using PLR can save you a lot of time.

PLR can be a problem though. If it’s not used correctly it may actually hurt your image. People who spend money on your products expect to see something unique, something with quality. You should care enough to deliver it too, overdeliver even. Here are some tips for using PLR well.

Change It

How most people use PLR:

  • Select All
  • Copy
  • Paste

Truth is, that’s also the worst way to use PLR. The only thing worse is pretending you aren’t doing that. The world is a surprisingly small place and eventually, your audience will see that you do this. It hurts your credibility and erodes trust.

PLR needs to be tweaked. Often by going through and rewording a few sentences and rearranging a few main points you can give it your own voice, and new life as original content. There is no place this is more true than the humble Email Swipe File. You know your audience, change the copy to suit them, and watch your success skyrocket!

Quality

In software development, there’s a saying, Garbage In / Garbage Out. Starting with bad quality PLR means you are going to struggle to get quality content out the other side. It may be hard for you to extract the main point. The narrative might be twisted. In extreme cases, the flow from one paragraph to the next might not even make sense.

Always check your PLR for quality when you are purchasing, or stick to trusted vendors.

Links

If you get PLR with links in it, make sure you change the links.

This rookie mistake can result in your PLR vendor getting commissions you’ve worked hard to earn. Always check the links. Then test them. Twice

PLR doesn’t have to be a bad word in your business, and especially as you start it can be a great asset if used properly.

If you haven’t signed up for my regular newsletter make sure you do. I teach more in an email than some marketers do in a $17 course. I may even deliver free PLR on occasion…
